We brought a programme of familiar favourites to the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, with Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World", Shostakovich's Festive Overture, and Williams' Las Milongas de la Orquesta. Conducted by Hugo Jennings, the concert was filmed for the first time and released on our YouTube channel, giving less-able patients and those who couldn't attend in person the chance to enjoy the performance.

SLO played two mini-concerts at the V&A with Guest Conductor Anita Datta. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Arts Council England for the National Lottery grant and the V&A for their support.

We returned to our first ever concert venue for the London edition of our Sounds of the Sea Brighton concert, with a few extra favourites thrown in, including Toreador from Carmen and a little bit of the London Suite we did at our Crystal Palace concert earlier in the year.

All on board the SLO-boat, as we took to the high seas of Brighton with classical maritime music which left us swaying.

An afternoon of music celebrating the vibrant sounds of London, performing the lively rhythms of Eric Coates' London Suite, the grandeur of Sullivan's Symphony in E major, which was premiered at Crystal Palace, and the rich, festive energy of Elgar’s Cockaigne Overture.

In November 2024, we brought Shakespeare’s stories to life through classical masterpieces - the sweeping drama of Tchaikovsky's The Tempest, the intense emotion of Dvořák’s Othello Overture, and the romance and rivalry of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite No.1.

SLO brought orchestral music to life for families, at Hammersmith & Fulham's CommUNITY Day. With storytelling, funny costumes, and fan-favorite tunes like Pirates of the Caribbean and Jurassic Park, kids (and adults!) loved it. Activity booklets for our children added extra fun, making it a fab afternoon for all!

SLO takes East London with a November concert at Christchurch, Isle of Dogs.

Social London Orchestra performed Skip Martin’s “Scheherajazz” at the Clapham Grand on Sunday 6th August. This rarely-performed piece, originally put together with the 101 Strings Orchestra and Skip Martin’s Big Band on two separate recording dates, combines the original ballet music of Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade” with big band interludes written by Martin, one of the foremost arrangers for swing bands and Hollywood films in the 30s, 40s and 50s. The members of Social London Orchestra were joined by some of London’s top jazz musicians in what was the first recorded performance of this piece on British soil. This was the final event of the 2023 Battersea Jazz Festival. The combination of an exciting work, with such a talented group of players, at one of London’s most historic entertainment venues, made for an unforgettable concert.
